T.I.P.S.

  • Lightbulb The student must be able to use objects, drawings, and number sentences to model the relationship of numbers, up to 20, in addition and subtraction word problems. They must be able to solve and explain their solution and thinking to these real life situations.

Example

  • Use a math drawing, paper, and pencil to solve the following problem situation. Write a number sentence to show how you solved the following problem and be ready to share their thinking.
     
    Maggie had 17 friends at her party. Some of them went outside to jump on the trampoline. Four friends were remaining in the room. How many friends went outside?
