T.I.P.S.

  • Lightbulb The student must be able solve problems by understanding number relationships of 10 more and 10 less. They must be able to explain how they solved the problem and how they know they are correct.

Example

  • Mrs. Lewis has 24 pencils and buys 10 more for her class. Mr. Kelly’s class has 37 pencils and loses 10 of them. Whose class has more pencils now? Use math drawings or pictures, words, and number sentences to explain your solution and thinking.
