• Students must be able to figure out how many items are in a group when a set of items is shared equally or how many groups can be made from separating equal sets of items from the total.

• Read the following problem situations (word problems) and use paper if necessary.

a) Mr. Chirinos likes to put his class of 24 students in groups for certain activities. If he has 6 baskets of materials for the groups to share equally, how many students can he put in each group?

b) Mr. Chirinos likes to put his class of 24 students in groups for certain activities. If he wants 3 students to be in each group, how many groups will he make?
