T.i.P.S.

  • Lightbulb In this standard, students are explaining the various methods in which people might use to pay for college tuition and fees. There are many methods and students can investigate each one. Even though they are only in 6th grade, it helps students to begin to think of the long-term and what might work for them once they graduate. This is a great time to allow students to explore and understand that anyone can go to college (especially since so many students might believe that they will never be able to afford it).

Example

  • Jocelyn is a high school senior, and she just received a letter stating that she is being awarded a grant for her first year of college. What is a grant and how can it help Jocelyn pay for school?
