T.I.P.S.

  • Lightbulb Students must be able to write and solve word problems that involve one-step addition or subtraction based on the information represented in a pictograph that has a key symbol equal to one or a bar graph with a scale interval of one. 

Example

  • Use the bar graph to answer the questions and explain your thinking.

     Example

    a) How many flowers are in the garden?
    b) How many more daisies are there than lilies?
    c) What two flowers could be added together to have the same number of daisies?
    d) If you have 3 more roses, how many roses would you have? How would that change the graph?
    e) Write and solve your own word problem about the data in the bar graph.
